Well, Miss Katelyn is adjusting to life on the outside. She is still a little night owl, like her Daddy! And, she is almost as stubborn as her Mommy! Kate loves being swaddled, but you HAVE to leave her hands out, otherwise she will throw a huge fit. She usually sleeps with her hands right up around her face. She likes her pacifier, and so do I at 1:00 in the morning when nothing else will work! Her favorite places to hang out (when she is not breastfeeding) are in daddy's arms watching TV on the couch, her Rainforest Bouncer, being held over any shoulder while walking around, and she is slowly beginning to like her swing. Miss Kate does not like her hands confined anywhere, having her diaper changed, having her clothes changed, or sleeping at night.
She is beginning to discover the world around her. She has really begun to stretch out her arms and study her hands in the last couple of days. She likes to look at the frog on the rainforest bouncer. And she is beginning to make good eye contact and smile. She also has a very strong neck. She likes to hold her head up when you have her over your shoulder to look around. She will also try to headbut your shoulder if she is pitching a fit!
Kate had her 2 week checkup last Thursday. She is 20 3/4 inches long (70% percentile), 7 lb. 8 oz. (30% percentile). She is still so tiny that her very extensive clothing wardrobe literally falls off of her. I never imagined that she would be so small as to need newborn, and almost premie sized clothes, for the first month. But, she is eating well and gaining weight at a normal rate. So, I am sure that she will grow so quickly before our eyes that we won't even believe it! Jamey and I are having so much fun getting to know our little Punkin!!!
